“Only One Earth” , World Environment Day 2022

We were gifted with heavenly environment protected and loved by our ancestors back in the day. It is our duty to let our future generations enjoy the very same environment. Fulfilling that utmost responsibility the student of Holy Cross College Gampaha held “Only One Earth” program on 5th of June 2022 celebrating the World Environment Day.

Mr. Sarath Karunananda the District Environment Advisor/consultant was honoured as the guest speaker and Mrs. Susanthika Pathiraja, the Assistant Director of Education(Technology) raised awareness among the teachers incharge of the Environment Society. Then the members of the society pledged their oath. As the exceptional event of the day a governors’ plum plant (Ugurassa) was planted by Viduni Fernando, the president of the Environmnt Society and Hoshinika, the member from the advanced level section of the school. A valuable lecture about natural handy crafts was conducted via online platform by Nathalie Dias, a past pupil of the college as one of her educational projects. In parallel with that event, a natural handy crafts exhibition was held and the winners for the best handy crafts were awarded with certificates and gifts. As the next item, the environment song was performed by the members of the society representing the primary section of the college adding more colours to the day. End of the day, the event came to a huge success.

We, as a school dedicate ourselves to protect our environment for the betterment of our future generations, now and always.
